Daniel Safarik has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Daniel is currently serving as the Director of Research and Thought Leadership at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), a role they started in December 2021. Prior to this, they worked as the Assistant Director of Research and Thought Leadership at CTBUH from May 2021 to December 2021. Before joining CTBUH, they served as the Editor-in-Chief for the same organization from March 2013 to May 2021. Additionally, they also held the position of Director for the Asia Headquarters Office at CTBUH from April 2015 to March 2017.
Before their time at CTBUH, Daniel worked as a Research Editor at Evolved Media, a technology marketing agency, from July 2007 to March 2013. At Evolved Media, they conducted interviews, designed and wrote content, conducted research, and developed new business proposals.
Daniel also has experience in the architecture and design industry, having served as the Marketing Director at Brooks + Scarpa Architects, Inc. from April 2008 to March 2011. In this role, they were responsible for designing and writing new business proposals, coordinating proposal teams, handling press inquiries, and managing publication needs.
Prior to that, they worked as a US Correspondent for Trading Technology Week/Waters Magazine at Incisive Media from November 2000 to June 2004. Daniel began their career at The Wall Street Journal, where they worked as an Interactive News Reader/Web Editor from April 2000 to November 2000. Daniel was responsible for preparing and publishing newswire and breaking news content on WSJ.com.
Before their involvement in journalism, Daniel worked as a Reporter for Ticker Magazine at Individual Investor Group from July 1998 to April 2000. Overall, they bring a wealth of experience in journalism, marketing, and research to their current role at CTBUH.
Daniel Safarik completed their Bachelor of Science in Journalism at Northwestern University from 1994 to 1998. Daniel later pursued a Master of Architecture degree at the University of Oregon, studying from 2004 to 2007.
