Francisco Javier Quintana de Uña has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of architecture and design. Francisco Javier is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), a leading nonprofit organization that focuses on the future of cities and has a global network of over 1 million building industry professionals. In this role, they are responsible for strategic growth, overseeing a team across three continents and leading various multidisciplinary programs, conferences, research projects, and collaborations related to tall buildings.

Prior to their current position, Quintana de Uña worked as the Managing Director of IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture UK, which is a subsidiary of IDOM, a renowned architecture and engineering consultancy with offices across 23 countries. During their six-year tenure, they significantly grew the operations of IDOM UK and successfully delivered large and complex architectural projects for prestigious organizations worldwide.

Before that, they served as the Founding Dean of the School of Architecture and Design at IE University. Francisco Javier played a crucial role in establishing this international academic institution and led the development of its innovative blend of architectural and management education.

Quintana de Uña also has experience as a Founding Partner and Principal at Taller Basico de Arquitectura SLP, where they launched and expanded the firm into an award-winning architectural practice specializing in residential, educational, cultural, and health projects. The firm received recognition from institutions globally and represented Spain in the Architectural Biennale in Venice.

Additionally, they worked at Fundacion Rafael Escola as the Research Director and later as the Executive Director. In these roles, they spearheaded research programs in architecture and engineering, collaborated with numerous companies, and provided research opportunities to aspiring architects and engineers through grants.

Quintana de Uña began their career at Universidad de Navarra, where they held the positions of Head of Cultural Events and Manager of External Relations.

Francisco Javier Quintana de Uña has an extensive education history in the field of architecture. Francisco Javier first attended the University of Navarra, where they obtained their Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the ETSAUN Graduate School of Architecture in 1990. Following this, they pursued further education, enrolling at Columbia University in 1991. There, they obtained a Master's Degree in Advanced Architectural Design, with a specialization in Post Professional Degree, in 1992. Francisco continued their studies at the University of Navarra, where they completed their Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Architecture from the ETSAUN Graduate School of Architecture in 2004.
