Marypat Henders

Marypat Henders holds a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago; a Bachelor’s Degree in Art, English, and Spanish, from the University of Wisconsin, Madison; Certification in Positive Psychology. Ms. Henders is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.

Client Base: Ms. Henders specializes in working with children, adolescents, families, and adults. Ms. Henders conducts individual, family, sibling, and couples therapy sessions. She has an extensive background in treating children who have witnessed domestic violence. She specializes in work with adolescents and young adults experiencing depression, anxiety, anger management, social skills issues, and ADHD, and who have experienced trauma and abuse.

Therapeutic Approach: Ms. Henders is bilingual in Spanish and has worked with clients of all ages and cultural backgrounds. She encourages families to become involved in their child’s treatment while also providing a safe space for the client. She encourages a reciprocal therapeutic relationship with her clients in that they can equally give feedback about progress and the focus of sessions. She uses cognitive behavioral, behavioral, family systems theory, and positive psychology in treatment. She also employs verbal, art, and narrative therapy techniques in her practice.
