Sofia Pereira

Public Health Director at County of Humboldt

Sofia Pereira has a diverse work experience. Sofia began their career as the Associated Students President at Humboldt State University in 2008. Sofia worked as a Retail Sales Representative at Verizon from 2009 to 2011. In 2011, they served as a Political Programs Fellow at Women's Campaign Fund and later as Scheduler and Field Coordinator for Stacey Lawson for Congress. Sofia joined the California State Assembly as a Field Representative from 2012 to 2014. Sofia then became a Legislative Analyst for the County of Humboldt from 2014 to 2017. During this time, they also worked as the Director of Programs and Impact and Community Manager at Sofia Should Run. From 2014 to 2021, they were involved in local government as a City Councilmember and Mayor for the City of Arcata. Currently, Sofia is serving as the Public Health Director at the County of Humboldt. Sofia has also held positions as the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program Coordinator and Hospital Preparedness Program Coordinator in the same county.

Sofia Pereira attended Humboldt State University from 2005 to 2009, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Communication.
