Jen Schmitz

Jen Schmitz is a highly experienced Natural Resources Manager with a diverse background in environmental science and project management. Currently serving at Island County, WA since May 2023, Jen also operates as an independent owner of Jen Schmitz Environmental, providing technical assistance and various environmental compliance documents across Washington and Oregon. Previous roles include Director of Municipal Services at Clear Water Services, LLC, and Principal Planner for Water Resources at Triangle J Council of Governments, where Jen managed extensive regional water resources planning projects. Early career positions include technical roles at the City of Raleigh Municipal Government, North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, and Ecology and Environment, Inc. Jen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology from Michigan State University, a Master’s Degree in Land Resources and Environmental Sciences from Montana State University, and a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Washington.
