Sarah Sweeney

Sarah Sweeney (Sweeney-Gerardi) currently serves as Deputy Director of County Communications for the County of San Diego, having joined in March 2018 after previously holding the position of Communications Program Manager. In this role, Sweeney leads a team responsible for fostering trust and transparency through cohesive communications across various County departments. Prior experience includes ownership of Synecdoche Communications, where Sweeney provided PR and communication services to a diverse client base, and roles at Qualcomm and Mixte Communications that involved public relations and government affairs. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Wittenberg University and a Master of Arts in International Relations from Alliant International University, along with certificates in workplace conflict mediation and public participation engagement.
