April Hunziker

Dr. April Hunziker, M.D., is a physician specializing in psychiatry. She works in consultation-liaison psychiatry with CHI Franciscan Health in King County, Washington. She completed her B.S. in microbiology at the University of Washington, then worked for a year as a CDC Emerging Infectious Diseases laboratory research fellow. She earned her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, where she completed the Underserved Pathway. April completed two years of obstetrics and gynecology residency training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis and then chose to transition into the field of psychiatry. She graduated from the University of Washington Psychiatry Residency Training Program in 2019 with Areas of Distinction in perinatal psychiatry and community leadership. Other areas of interest include brain stimulation therapies, addiction, and telemedicine. April is a proud alumnus of Covenant House Alaska in Anchorage, and was the keynote speaker at the 2015 Covenant House Alaska Fire & Ice Ball. She has made her home in Seattle, Washington, where she lives with her daughter, her dog, and her rabbit. She has a grown son, who was with her at Covenant House, who lives nearby.
