Steve Smith

Steve Smith has over 25 years of experience in risk management, operations, and customer experience across various roles. Currently a Senior Operational Risk Manager at Coventry Building Society since May 2018, Steve has previously held senior positions such as Senior Enterprise Risk Assurance Manager. At NFU Mutual, from September 1999 to April 2018, key roles included Customer Experience Manager, where Steve focused on customer survey operations and risk identification, and Claims Risk & Control Manager, ensuring compliance with risk management frameworks. Additional experience includes managing operational risk initiatives as an Operational Risk Executive and fulfilling auditing responsibilities as an Internal Auditor. Steve began career as a Commercial Underwriter/Graduate Trainee at Avon Insurance after earning a History degree from the University of Essex.
