Butts has a long history of working in various industries. Jodi started their career working in healthcare before eventually moving into the world of asset development. In 2013, they became the CEO of Rise Asset Development, a organization that financing and supports entrepreneurs across Ontario with a history of mental health or addiction challenges. Jodi held this position until 2017 when they transitioned into their current role as an advisor.

Throughout their career, Butts has also served on various boards and committees. Jodi was the Chair of the Board of Directors for Aereus Technologies Inc. from 2015 to 2019 and the Board Director and Governance Committee Chair for the Wellesley Institute from 2013 to 2016.

Jodi Butts attended the Mount Sinai Leadership Institute at the Rotman School of Management. Jodi then obtained their Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Toronto. Afterwards, they completed the Advanced Management and Governance in Government Business Enterprises program at Ryerson University. Jodi also has a Certificate in Public Procurement Law and Practice from York University - Osgoode Hall Law School. Jodi Butts is also a Junior Fellow at MASSEY COLLEGE, University of Toronto. Jodi has a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Canadian Jodi'story from the University of Toronto, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Literature and Jodi'story from the University of Windsor.
