William Wakaye

William Wakaye, M.Eng., PMP, has extensive work experience in project management and engineering roles. William is currently serving as the Director of Project Management at Covia, where they are responsible for driving project management rigor and discipline in mining and manufacturing projects across multiple sites in the United States and Canada. In this role, they lead a diverse team of project managers and oversees project planning, evaluation, and budgeting. Prior to this, they worked as a Lead Project Manager at Gevo, Inc.

Before joining Covia and Gevo, Inc., William worked at H.B. Fuller, where they served as a Program Manager and a Senior Project Manager. At H.B. Fuller, they successfully managed various projects and ensured their timely completion.

William's earlier experience includes roles at ExxonMobil, where they worked as a Lead Project Engineer, Project Controls Engineer/Field Engineer, and Cost Engineer. William also worked at Marathon Oil Company as a Project Engineer, Reservoir Engineer, and Production Engineer, where they demonstrated their expertise in project planning and execution, reservoir engineering, and production optimization.

William Wakaye, M.Eng., PMP, obtained a Master of Engineering (M. Eng.) degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Energy & Sustainability from Cornell University in 2011. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 2010. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate in Global Studies from the same university in 2010. In 2008, they completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. In June 2021, they also obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
