Lars Rosendahl Appelquist

Lars Rosendahl Appelquist has a diverse and extensive work experience. Lars currently serves as the Treasurer of The Royal Danish Geographical Society since 2022. In 2016, they founded Coastal Hazard Wheel and held the position of Founding Head. Lars has also worked as a Business Development Director at COWI since 2021. From 2020 to 2021, they held the position of Head of Programme, Marine Environment & Senior expert - GRID-Arendal at the UN Environment Programme. Prior to that, Lars served as a Technical Advisor at the UN Environment Programme from 2015 to 2017. Lars worked as a Consultant to the Director at the United Nations Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) from 2014 to 2015. In the field of research, Lars has worked as a PhD fellow, Research Assistant, and Research student & part-time employee at UNEP Risoe Centre from 2006 to 2014. Lars also held the role of Senior researcher/Consultant at the International Fund for Agricultural Development in 2013. Additionally, Lars has been associated with the University of Oxford as a Visiting Research Associate and Senior member at St Cross College in 2013, and as a Visiting Research Associate in 2010.

Lars Rosendahl Appelquist holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Management Engineering / Climate change adaptation from UNEP DTU Partnership, Technical University of Denmark. Lars also completed a Master's Degree in Geography & climate policy from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physical geography from the same university. In addition, they were a visiting graduate student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focusing on Climate/energy policy & Technology entrepreneurship.
