Thomas Gierlevsen has extensive experience in marine and coastal engineering, with a focus on project management and market development. Thomas began their career at DHI in 1996 as a project manager, working on various port, offshore, and coastal engineering projects worldwide. During their time at DHI, they also gained experience in advanced numerical modeling, physical model testing, and design optimization of marine structures and breakwaters. In 2004, they joined COWI A/S, where they held various leadership roles, including Head of Department for Marine & Civil Engineering and Chief Project Manager for Marine Engineering. In their most recent role as Project & Market Director for Marine & Coastal Engineering at COWI A/S, they were responsible for overseeing projects and driving business development in the field.
Thomas Gierlevsen obtained a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Marine Engineering from Aalborg University, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. In 1994, they briefly studied as an exchange student at Queen's University, focusing on Civil and Coastal Engineering. Prior to university, Thomas attended Risskov Amtsgymnasium from 1985 to 1989 to complete their high school education.
