Cassandra West

Cassandra West is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in editorial management, marketing, and brand development. Currently serving as Assistant Managing Editor at Crain's Chicago Business since June 2021, Cassandra oversees Crain's Forum, a recognized monthly series addressing key regional issues through insights from various thought leaders. Previous roles include Communications and Marketing Manager at the Forest Preserve Foundation, Communications Director at Seven Generations Ahead, and Principal/Owner at New Media Access, where Cassandra focused on online brand development. As the founding editor of Seeding Chicago, Cassandra promoted urban agriculture and sustainability, and contributed as a reporter at Wednesday Journal, Inc. Cassandra also has a strong background in education, having served as a Journalism Instructor at Northwestern University and held various communication positions at organizations such as the Chicago Foundation for Women and Diverse: Issues In Higher Education. Cassandra holds a BA in English, economics, and studio art from Mount Holyoke College and has pursued further education at Northwestern University.
