Richard is currently Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education, Enterprise and Engagement) at the University of Sydney, where he has involvement in education strategy and management. Previously as Vice- Provost he was responsible for academic excellence policies at the university.
Richard’s academic career is grounded in the Classics and Ancient History. He was Chair of the Department of Classics and Ancient History before becoming Head of the School of Humanities at the University of Sydney. Richard’s communications experience includes writing and hosting popular BBC programs on archaeology and ancient history.
Richard’s son is a Senior School student at Cranbrook.
He was appointed to the School Council as a director in 2023.
