Angela Mattox

Senior Manager, Awardee Engagement at Creative Capital

Angela Mattox brings two decades of experience as an arts administrator nurturing the work of contemporary artists, nationally and internationally. Her newly created role at Creative Capital is to manage an interdisciplinary portfolio of Awardees to support the development and execution of their projects and to advise them on sustaining a thriving creative practice. Her curatorial approach focuses on cross-cultural exchange, experimental practice, and interdisciplinary work. She curated bold artistic programs for the Wiener Festwochen (Vienna, Austria) the TBA Festival/Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (Portland, OR), and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco, CA). In NYC, she coordinated grant programs and advised funds for Arts International.

As a consistent champion of artists, she has served on review panels for the Japan Foundation, New England Foundation for the Arts, FACE Foundation for French and US Exchange, the National Dance Project, Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, MapFund, Mid-Atlantic Foundation for the Arts, and the NEA. Mattox is named to the rank of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture and received her BA degree in World Arts and Cultures, UCLA.
