Karen Darricades has a diverse range of work experience. In 2002, they worked as an Art Director for various film productions until 2007. From 2003, they began contributing as a writer for various online and print publications. In 2006, they founded Never Gallery Ready, a multidisciplinary arts non-profit organization that delivered workshops and community-engaged projects. In 2020, Karen became the Podcast Producer and Host for the #WeMakeMedia Podcast. karen also worked as the Head of Arts and Culture for Creative Commons Canada starting in 2021 and served as a Board Member and Artist Advisor for Artivive since 2021. Most recently, in 2022, Karen founded Lit Kit, where they serve as the Founder & Product Developer, creating augmented reality STEAM edutainment maker-kits. Additionally, they have had roles as a speaker and panelist at various conferences and events, discussing topics such as AI, augmented reality, and emerging technologies. Karen has also been involved in community arts residencies and has exhibited their work in solo and group exhibitions.

Karen Darricades attended the University of Toronto from 1998 to 2004, where they earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio and Fine Arts as their major, and double minors in Art History and Linguistics. Additionally, they obtained a Diploma in Photography and Visual Communications from EFET- Ecole Privee de Communication Visuelle in 2000-2001.
