Islam Mahdy

Chairman & CEO at Credence

In 2005, Mahdy was appointed Chairman & CEO of Credence. He led a corporate turnaround strategy execution through corporate consolidation and debt reduction by institutionalizing and restructuring the group financially and operationally. The transformation was featured in a 2015 World Bank Group report on “Corporate Governance Success Stories in the Middle East and North Africa.” Mahdy also founded Credence’s Urbane group and curated the group’s celebrated brands and award-winning experiences. Previously, Mahdy was an analyst in EFG Hermes’ investment banking division, where he got market insights on MENA’s leading organizations.

Islam holds a Master in Science degree from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business where he focused on the intersection of Investment and Innovation. Mahdy obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (concentration in Economics and Finance) with honors from Babson College. Mahdy also earned a Master Certificate in Hospitality Management and the IAAPA Amusement & Attractions Management Certificate both from Cornell University.
