Katie Averill currently serves as the Superintendent of the Credit Union Division at the State of Iowa's Department of Insurance and Financial Services since May 2017. Averill holds multiple leadership roles, including Chair of the NASCUS Regulatory Board of Directors and Chair of the NCUA-State Joint Supervisory Working Group. Additionally, Averill is an Advisory Board Member at the Iowa SBDC and a member of the International Credit Union Regulators' Network. As the founder of the JOY of Reading and JOYmobile Foundation, Averill promotes literacy in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Previous positions include Director of Commerce for the State of Iowa and Senior Vice President at Citizens Community Credit Union. Education includes a Bachelor of Science in Business from Iowa State University and certification as a Credit Union Executive from the CUNA Management School.
