Isabella D' Ascanio has a diverse work experience in the field of research, beginning with an internship in 2010 at the pathology department of Umberto I’d of Tagliacozzo hospital in Italy, where they were trained to carry out routine analytical tests in biochemistry, microbiology and hematology on human urine and blood samples. In 2012, they worked as a researcher at the University of Abertay Dundee, Dundee, Scotland, where they gained experience in culturing heSC derived cardiomyocytes. In 2013, they were a summer visiting student at UCL, Department Neuroscience, Physiology & Pharmacology, London, UK, and also worked as a research technician at iQur Ltd (LBIC, London Bioscience Innovation Centre) - Vaccine Development, where they developed a novel vaccine delivery system using an engineered Hepatitis B virus core protein. In 2016, they worked as a research technician at hVIVO, where they were involved in clinical research, especially in viral respiratory disease research through utilizing human challenge models. Isabella then moved to Adaptimmune Ltd UK in 2017, where they worked as a research technician, with responsibilities focusing on cell/tissue targets validation and identification and validation of specific target peptides expressed only in tumour cell lines or tissues. Finally, in 2018, Isabella began work at Avacta as a Senior Research Associate, where their responsibilities focused on molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry, and they were involved in Affimer cloning in specific expression vectors such as bacterial and mammalian by single or double restriction digestion and Gibson Assembly. In 2022, they began work at Crescendo Biologics Limited as a Research Scientist.
Isabella D' Ascanio's education history includes obtaining a Master's by research (MbR) in Molecular Pharmacology from the University of Abertay Dundee in 2011-2012, a Bachelor's degree (Hon) in General Studies (Biomedical Sciences) from the University of Abertay Dundee in 2010-2011, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in pharmaceutical biotechnology from Universita' degli studi dell'Aquila (Italy) from 2003-2010.
