Tom Daff

Team Leader, Web Development at Cresset

Tom Daff has a diverse work experience in various industries and roles. Tom started their career at Norbrook Laboratories ltd as an Analyst, where they performed analytical techniques and collaborated with the synthesis team. Tom then worked as an Honorary Research Assistant at University College London before joining the University of Ottawa as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant. In this role, they designed methods for creating hypothetical crystal structures and screened materials for carbon capture applications. Afterwards, Tom worked at the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge as a Research Associate, where they developed interatomic potentials using machine learning techniques to study hydrogen embrittlement in high strength steels. Tom then transitioned to the Department of Physics at the same university as a Linux System Administrator/Developer, responsible for developing software and systems to support the department's evolving needs. Currently, Tom holds multiple roles at Cresset software and discovery and Torx® Software as a Team Leader in Web Development, Senior Web Developer, and Web Developer.

Tom Daff holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Crystallography, which they obtained from Birkbeck, University of London between 2006 and 2010. Prior to their PhD, they earned an MSci in Materials Science (Natural Sciences) from the University of Cambridge, where they studied from 2001 to 2005.
