John Benton is an accomplished legal professional and data scientist with a diverse background in national security law and data analysis. Currently serving as a National Security Crisis Law Fellow at Georgetown University Law Center since May 2010, John develops interactive crisis simulations for law students and has conducted extensive legal research on the state secrets doctrine. As a Senior Data Scientist for Criterion Systems since July 2021, John applies analytical expertise gained from previous roles, including Senior Data Scientist at Protas Solutions Inc. and Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton. Prior to these roles, John worked as an attorney for the United States Department of Defense and held associate positions at Mayer Brown LLP. John began a legal career as a Senior Paralegal at Steptoe & Johnson LLP, following a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a BA in Politics from the University of Virginia.
