Critical Manufacturing
José Silva is the Research and Development Director at Critical Manufacturing, where he leads product development for the company’s flagship MES platform, as well as its cloud services and innovation initiatives. With a strong focus on aligning technology and business strategy, José plays an important role in driving scalability, innovation, and reliability across critical manufacturing systems used by some of the world’s leading industrial companies.
Before rejoining Critical Manufacturing in a leadership capacity, José served as an Engineering Manager at Anchorage Digital, where he played an important part in building the company’s engineering presence in Portugal. During his tenure, he led core platform initiatives and oversaw significant global team expansion and agile transformation.
José brings over a decade of experience in software engineering and MES, including deep technical leadership in transitioning MES systems to modern web-based and edge computing architectures. He is also a dedicated educator, serving as an invited professor of cryptography, and information security at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA).
Beyond his professional roles, José was IEEE Portugal Chair (2018-2019) and hold other relevant positions within the IEEE organization - where he's still a member. His career reflects a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic leadership, and a strong sense of service—to both the industry and the community.
