Alexander Hanel

Alexander Hanel is a seasoned security professional with extensive experience in malware analysis and cybersecurity. Currently serving as a Senior Security Researcher II at CrowdStrike since July 2017, Alexander is a key member of the TAC eCrime team, producing influential intelligence reports on Ryuk ransomware and other significant ransomware threats. Prior experience includes roles at Dell SecureWorks as a Senior Security Researcher and Lastline, Inc. as a Malware Analyst/Reverse Engineer, where work involved reverse engineering malware and conducting applied research. Earlier career positions also include Malicious Code Research Analyst at Citi and Cyber Intel Analyst at Lockheed Martin, focusing on malware analysis and the development of detection tools. Alexander began the professional journey as an Advanced Threat Research Analyst at Webroot, specializing in reverse engineering for antivirus development. Education was completed at Fort Lewis College between 2000 and 2005.
