Mario Shiliashki

Mario is a global mobile, eCommerce and payments senior executive with over 15 years of technology and digital experience. He was appointed to the Bank Board in September 2020. He has a proven track record of running and scaling large P&Ls, building high performance teams in product, sales, business development, marketing and analytics. He has had significant success as an executive across world class technology enabled organisations from MasterCard and PayPal to PayU in multiple regions across the world.

Mario is CEO of PayU EMEA, which provides payment technology to online merchants. The company was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in the, Netherlands and owned by Naspers. It allows online businesses to accept and process payments through payment methods that can be integrated with web and mobile applications. Mario has spent the last 15 years working closely with CTOs to understand the infrastructure requirements needed to scale the platforms and deliver market leading payment solutions. Mario has significant experience in emerging markets and its dynamics, given PayU’s footprint i.e. Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and South East Asia. He has had significant success growing the business by three times, organically consolidating positions in local markets taking market-share as well as expanding into new markets by acquisition.
