Chris Houlden

Chris has 22 years' experience in the steel industry and joined CRU in April 2008 following a ten-year career at Tata Steel.

At Tata, Chris worked in technical mill-based roles and in commercial functions at both business unit and corporate level. Latterly, Chris moved to Tata Steel's Corporate Strategy department where he was responsible for the group's industry analysis and steel price forecasting.

In his current role at CRU, Chris leads CRU's team of steel analysts in Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Mumbai, Pittsburgh, Santiago and London and is also Head of Prices Development across all commodity groups.

Chris has presented and debated at renowned industry conferences, provided expert witness testimony and has been quoted in the media, including Reuters and the BBC.

Chris has a BSc (Hons) in Applied Physics from the University of Durham, a postgraduate diploma in Industrial Sales & Marketing from Loughborough University, is Chartered Institute of Marketing-qualified, and has an MBA with distinction from Warwick Business School in the UK.
