James Southard

James Southard has extensive work experience in software engineering, beginning with a Software Development Intern position at Westvaco in 1997. James then moved on to a Software Engineer position at the University of South Carolina Virtual Test Bed in 1998. In 2002, they began working at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Charleston, where they participated in rotational assignments within the SPAWAR organization. In 2007, they joined Automated Trading Desk, a Citi Company, as a Sr Application Development Programmer Analyst. From 2014 to 2017, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at PhishLabs, where they were responsible for improving the team's software development practices, leveraging new technologies and techniques for their current tools and operational systems, and improving the performance and scalability of their systems. Finally, from 2017 to the present, they have been a Senior Software Engineer at Crunchy Data Solutions, Inc., a leading provider of trusted open source PostgreSQL technology, support and training.

James Southard obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina between 1998 and 2002. In 2012, they obtained a Red Hat Certified Engineer certification from Red Hat, Inc. In 2021, they obtained a Private Aircraft Pilot certification from the Federal Aviation Administration.
