Aaron Smischney

Director Character Technical Art at Crystal Dynamics

Aaron Smischney has a strong background in technical art, with a focus on character animation and visualization. Aaron began their career as an intern at Jam & FX in 1996 before moving on to Dynamic Digital Design, where they worked as an artist responsible for rendering, animation, and final editing. In 1998, Smischney became a lead technical artist at Canopy Games, where they worked until 2001. Aaron then joined Destineer Studios as an animator before transitioning to Midway Studios Austin as a lead technical artist in 2002. Smischney also worked as a technical artist at Inevitable Entertainment from 2002 to 2007. In 2007, Smischney joined Panic Button as a lead technical artist, staying with the company until 2014. From 2014 to 2021, they worked as a principal technical artist at Cubic Mission & Performance Solutions. Currently, they hold the position of lead character technical artist at Crystal Dynamics, a role they began in 2021.

From 1993 to 1995, Aaron Smischney attended the Perpich Center for Arts Education, where they studied Media Arts. Aaron did not pursue a degree during this time.
