Joost VandeVondele is a prominent figure in the field of computational science, currently serving as the Deputy Director for Science and Unit Head of Research Infrastructure Engineering at CSCS since November 2016. VandeVondele leads a team focused on engineering and community engagement projects and has also held the position of Associate Director at CSCS, where significant contributions included building a team of 30 scientists and securing substantial funding for high-performance computing projects. With previous experience as an Assistant Professor at ETH Zürich, a Senior Researcher at the University of Zurich, and a postdoctoral researcher at both the University of Cambridge and the University of Zurich, VandeVondele has a rich background in molecular simulations and computational methods. VandeVondele holds a Doctor's Degree in Computational Chemistry from ETH Zürich and has published extensively while engaging with international scientific communities.
