Brett Molony

Brett Molony is the Science Director of the Environment Business Unit at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), based in Perth, Western Australia. With over 30 years of experience as a marine, estuarine, and freshwater researcher, Brett has published more than 50 articles and two books. Previously, Brett held significant positions, including Senior Fisheries Scientist and Supervising Research Scientist at the Department of Fisheries WA, as well as a Senior Fisheries Scientist with the Secretariat of the Pacific Community. Brett actively engages with a variety of stakeholders to promote sustainable coastal and marine ecosystem use, focusing on integrating Indigenous knowledge and science with Western practices. Currently residing in Perth, Brett enjoys running, riding, playing guitar, and exploring science fiction and history.
