Eliot Cohen

Eliot Cohen is the Arleigh Burke Chair in Strategy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a role held since 2021. They served as a Professor at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies from 1990 to 2024 and were the Dean there from 2019 to 2022. Previously, they held the position of Assistant Professor at Harvard University from 1982 to 1985 and served as a Counselor at the U.S. Department of State from 2007 to 2009. Eliot earned a Ph.D. and a BA in Government from Harvard University and completed ROTC at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
