Michael Ratney

Senior Advisor (non-resident), Middle East Program

Michael Ratney is a seasoned diplomat and expert in geopolitics currently serving as a Senior Advisor for the Middle East Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. They previously held significant roles, including Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, U.S. Consul General in Jerusalem, and U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Throughout their career, Michael has managed large teams and engaged in complex diplomatic efforts across the Middle East, including as Special Envoy for Syria. Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and a Master of Arts in International Relations from Boston University and The George Washington University, respectively.
