Sandeep Pai is an interdisciplinary researcher, author, and advisor currently leading energy transitions at the Duke University Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability. With decades of expertise in the political economy of energy transitions and coal sector dynamics, Sandeep previously served as a Senior Research Lead at the Center for Strategic & International Studies, focusing on coal transitions. They have also contributed as a journalist for major Indian publications and won the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism award in 2016. Sandeep holds a PhD in resources, environment, and sustainability from the University of British Columbia and has authored the book *Total Transition: The Human Side of the Renewable Energy Revolution*.
