Tom Karako

Senior Fellow and Director

Tom Karako is a Senior Fellow and Director of the Missile Defense Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a position held since 2014. Having served as a Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University from 2015 to 2023, they possess extensive experience in international security and policy. Tom has also worked as a consultant since 2018 and held various academic positions, including adjunct professorships at Georgetown University and Claremont McKenna College. Their previous roles include Director of the Center for the Study of American Democracy at Kenyon College and a Congressional Fellow with the House Armed Services Committee from 2010 to 2011. Tom is currently pursuing a degree at Claremont Graduate University.
