Senior HAB Scientist at CSS

Quay Dortch has extensive experience in marine science, serving as a Senior Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) Scientist and ECOHAB Program Coordinator at NOAA from 2003 until September 2020. Prior to NOAA, Quay Dortch held academic positions as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium from 1986 to 2003. Quay Dortch began the career at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences as a Research Scientist from 1981 to 1986. Quay Dortch holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Oceanography from the University of Washington, a Master of Science (M.S.) in Chemistry from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Chemistry from Randolph College.
