Margaret Thelen

Margaret Thelen serves as an Environmental Health Senior Program Analyst at the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists since April 2024. Previously, Margaret held various positions at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services from June 2012 to April 2024, including Climate and Health Program Coordinator, where responsibilities included overseeing the integration of public health into climate adaptation plans and serving as Principal Investigator for the Climate and Health Program. Other roles encompassed support for public health alerting systems, developing educational toolkits for health professionals, and creating accessible resources regarding the CDC's BRACE program. Margaret began a career in research as a Student Researcher at the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center, focusing on health monitoring and laboratory management. Educational qualifications include a Master of Public Health and a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, along with Bachelor's degrees in Biology and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
