Richard Britton is a seasoned professional in the field of nuclear physics and radiation detection, currently serving as a Radionuclide Equipment Software Engineer and Noble Gas Technology Officer at the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) since February 2020. Prior to this role, Richard worked at AWE from April 2014 to February 2020 as a Senior Research Scientist, leading significant projects in radiation detection and nuclear non-proliferation, including the research for next-generation systems and the development of the UK Radionuclide National Data Centre. Earlier experience includes a position as a Research Scientist at the UK Ministry of Defence from October 2009 to April 2014, focusing on detector development. Richard holds an EngD in Nuclear Physics and a postgraduate diploma in Enterprise Management from the University of Surrey and Alliance Manchester Business School, respectively, along with an MPhys in Nuclear Astrophysics from the University of Surrey.
