Diego Canal Saez

Diego Canal Saez has a diverse work experience that spans across several companies and industries. Diego currently holds the position of Vice President - Development at Cubico Sustainable Investments, where they are responsible for creating and establishing the company's global development business across multiple countries. Diego works closely with country teams and other corporate functions to define and deliver business plans and strategies. Diego also provides direct support to development M&A transactions and negotiations, deal structuring, and socializing with central functions and senior management. Diego is also a member of the ESG Committee, contributing to sustainability and CSR initiatives.

Previously, Diego served as Vice President - Strategy & Investment Analysis at Cubico, where they managed strategy reviews, corporate business planning, and investment analysis. Diego was actively involved in capital allocation tools and also participated in the ESG Committee.

Before joining Cubico, Diego worked at OXTO Energy, where they held the role of Strategy & Business Development - Energy Storage. Additionally, they gained experience at Invenergy LLC as a Development Engineer in Growth Markets and as a Project Engineer in Renewables Project Development. In these roles, Diego was responsible for analyzing data, modeling renewable energy systems, and reporting to higher management.

Diego's early work experience includes being a Sailing Instructor/Coach at REAL CLUB MARITIMO DEL ABRA - REAL SPORTING CLUB, where they were involved in teaching and coaching sailing.

Diego Canal Saez completed their education with an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea - Escuela de Ingenieros Bilbao, starting in 2008 and finishing in 2013. Diego then pursued an Ms in Industrial Technology and Operations from the Illinois Institute of Technology, which they obtained between 2012 and 2013. Lastly, Diego attended INSEAD in 2017 and 2018, receiving an MBA degree.
