Derek Emmel has extensive law enforcement experience, having served with the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office since October 2000 in various capacities, including Captain of Court Security/Civil Process and Captain of the Patrol Division, where responsibilities included planning and managing law enforcement operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and implementing policy changes. Additional roles at the Sheriff's Office included Patrol 2nd Lieutenant, Patrol Sergeant, Dual Purpose K9 Handler, Corporal Patrol C-squad/K9 Supervisor, and School Resource Officer. Prior to this, Derek served as a Court Bailiff and Jailor within the same department, and worked as a Corrections Officer Lance Corporal/Corporal for the Virginia Department of Corrections. Since January 2021, Derek has also been a contractor and advisor for Milos Puppy Bootcamp. Education was pursued in Culpeper County from 2001 to 2003.
