Alejandro is an agronomist engineer with an MSc in natural resources and rural development and a PhD in ecology and sustainable development, both from the Colegio de la Frontera Sur, Mexico. He has completed research visits at Stanford University and the University of Berkeley, California, United States.
For more than 10 years he has carried out research and several national and international projects that have allowed him to develop expertise in agroforestry systems and their importance for conservation, restoration, and food systems. He has also worked with rural communities to implement sustainable production systems. Lately, he has been interested in delving into the issue of carbon, energy, and water flows in agroforestry systems in relation to climate change.
