Tamika Walker Kelly serves as the President of the North Carolina Association of Educators since July 2020, leading the state's largest organization for public school employees and acting as the state affiliate of the National Education Association. Additionally, Tamika has been a K-5 Music Educator at Cumberland County Schools since August 2007, where responsibilities include educating over 500 elementary students in general music and conducting an Honors Choir for 4th and 5th graders. Notable achievements include being named Westover District Teacher of the Year in 2015 and Morganton Road Elementary School Teacher of the Year for 2015-2016. Tamika contributes to various educational initiatives, including serving as the In-School Facilitator for the Positive Interventions and Support Initiative and designing professional development content for arts education teachers. Educational qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Educational/Instructional Technology and a Bachelor of Music in Music Teacher Education from East Carolina University.
