Stephen Cofer

Stephen Cofer serves as the X Platform Design and Development Leader at Cummins Inc., a position held since August 2007. Cofer has led the designs for multiple model years of the X15 engine, overseeing key processes such as the Design Integration Forum and virtual builds. Previous roles at Cummins include Assistant Chief Engineer, where leadership was provided to teams in product design and new product introduction, and Mechanical Development Engineer, focusing on cost reduction for critical engine components. Cofer's career began as a Design Engineer at Truck-Lite, where new product introductions and life cycle management for commercial vehicle components were managed. An Engineering Co-op position at Cummins prior to his full-time roles contributed to a well-rounded background in manufacturing engineering. Cofer holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, earned in 2001.
