Dr. Cheshier is an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery .at Primary Children's Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah He went to medical school at Stanford where he also completed a Ph.D. in immunology. He performed his residency at Stanford Hospitals and Clinics and recently finished a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto Canada. He was faculty at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford until 2018 when he left to take the position of Director of Pediatric Surgical Neuro-Oncology at the University of Utah. Dr. Cheshier has a long history of research and has published extensively in multiple stem cell fields including, hematopoietic stem cells, central nervous system stem cells, and brain cancer stem cells. His laboratory focuses on the characterization of brain tumor stem cells and their immediate progenitors, as well as developing novel immune therapies directed against these cells. He is a member of the Human Stem Cell Research Advisory Committee of the Department of Public Health and the Governor of California.
