Crystal Shih Byers

Crystal Shih Byers is an accomplished professional in the field of gene therapy and adeno-associated virus (AAV) research, currently serving as Senior Director at Curie.Bio since June 2024. Prior experience includes roles as Sr Director of Delivery at Moment Bio, where strategic gene delivery approaches were established, and as Director of AAV Therapeutics at Ascidian Therapeutics, where internal capabilities for AAV production were developed. Crystal's tenure at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research included founding the AAV core in Cambridge and leading significant therapeutic discovery programs, culminating in the receipt of the NIBR Biologics Science Prize in 2017. Educationally, Crystal holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Caltech and a B.S. in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
