Zac B. has extensive work experience in the field of data science. Zac most recently worked at Curinos as a Lead Data Scientist, where they were responsible for solving complex business issues using large datasets and tools such as SQL, Hadoop, Spark, R, and Python. Zac used various techniques including data cleaning, ETL, feature selection, and cross-validation to predict bank customer behavior. Zac also created a proprietary R modeling package that automated data science steps and made scoring more accessible across teams.

Prior to their role at Curinos, Zac worked as a Senior Data Scientist at the same company, where they continued to utilize their skills in data analysis. Before that, they were a Data Scientist II at Curinos, where they used models such as GLM, random forest, XGBoost, and PCA to analyze large datasets and predict outcomes.

Zac also has experience working at Mashreq Bank as a Data Analyst (Compliance Officer), where they focused on compliance-related data analysis. Zac worked as a Fellow at The Data Incubator, where they completed real-world data projects involving machine learning, NLP, and MapReduce. One of their projects involved analyzing Kickstarter delivery data.

Additionally, Zac has worked as a Freelance Scientist, Graduate Teaching Assistant, and Graduate Researcher at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. During their time there, they utilized supercomputing clusters to analyze large datasets for projects related to statistical modeling, nanotechnology, and device optimization. Zac also mentored and trained students in molecular dynamics simulations and Linux command-line.

Zac started their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Columbia University.

Zac B. obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Materials Science & Engineering from Columbia University in the years 2008 to 2010. Zac then pursued further education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and obtained a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science & Engineering from 2010 to 2014. Prior to attending Columbia University, Zac attended Rogue Community College from 2006 to 2008, where they completed General Studies. Additionally, in January 2017, Zac received a certification from The Data Incubator.
