Laylah Bulman is currently an Advisor at Curriki. Prior to that, they were a Senior Program Officer at Samueli Foundation from January 2020 to December 2021. In that role, they were responsible for the growth and partnership strategy for the global scholastic esports initiative (Worldwide Scholastic Esports Foundation). Laylah also facilitated the strategic expansion and management for North America Scholastic Esports Federation, a $3 million a year initiative focused on leveraging esports to build STEM skills and workforce for K12 youth.
During their time at Samueli Foundation, Laylah expanded student and teacher participation 3X from 300 US sites to over 1,000 in North America. Laylah also lead the international expansion to UK, EU, Mexico, Israel, UAE, France, South Africa, Japan, Singapore, Kazakhstan, and China. In addition, they managed multiple industry and philanthropic partnerships in STEM and scholastic esports programs, including STEM Funders Network, Microsoft, AWS, Twitch, and CDWG.
Laylah has also launched the first Minecraft-based program in Biotech, Epidemiology and Virtual Exchanges with US Department of State and CDC. Additionally, they lead the Esports Integrative Health and Wellness & Esports initiative with UC-Irvine, Susan Samueli Integrative Health Initiative, to develop and integrate innovative wellness curriculum. Lastly, they managed the grant portfolio for the Foundation's Israel Jewish philanthropic effect, including the study, design and implementation of a start-up venture at Beit Samueli.
Laylah Bulman has a Master of Public Affairs from The University of Texas at Austin with a focus in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics. Laylah also has a Public Policy Analysis - Quantitative Economics degree from Woodrow Wilson Fellow and a Certificate in Public Policy Analysis from Carnegie Mellon University - Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy. Bulman's undergraduate degree is in English and Latin American Studies from the University of Virginia. Laylah is also certified by Microsoft in the Microsoft Global Hackathon 2021 Award Winner, Microsoft Global Hackathon 2021, Microsoft Innovative Educator, Minecraft Education Edition Trainer, and PwC Wharton Business Educator. Bulman is also certified by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) in NFTE Entrepreneurship Education and by the Florida Department of Education as a Licensed Professional Educator in English and Social Studies 6-12.
