Mary Javian

Chair of Career Studies at Curtis Institute of Music

Mary Javian is the Chair of Career Studies at Curtis Institute of Music. Mary has also served as a curator, bassist, and director of programs for various organizations.

Mary Javian has been a fixture in the music world for over two decades. Mary began their career as a bassist with the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic in 1999. In 2008, they joined LiveConnections as a curator. There, they helped create programming and connect musicians with opportunities to perform.

In 2011, Javian became the Director of Programs for Project 440. In this role, they oversaw educational programming and outreach initiatives. Mary also served as the Director of Programs for the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra and IRIS Orchestra.

Javian is a passionate advocate for new music. Mary has served on the board of the Network for New Music and is a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Mary Javian has a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance from The Curtis Institute of Music.

They are on a team with Larry Bomback - SVP of Administration, Hannah Horine - Director of Performance Activities, and Julie Moerschel - Chief of Staff. Mary Javian reports to Roberto Díaz, President & CEO.
