Ryan Lathan

Associate Director of Communications at Curtis Institute of Music

Ryan Lathan is the Associate Director of Communications at Curtis Institute of Music. Ryan previously served as the Director of Marketing and Communications at Fort Worth Opera from January 2016 to February 2022. In this role, they were responsible for developing, executing, and evaluating comprehensive marketing campaigns to generate revenue and build community awareness. Ryan also supervised a team of one full-time employee and two part-time box office employees.

Lathan has extensive experience in audience development initiatives, including conceptualizing, planning, coordinating, and implementing promotional campaigns (print, broadcast, direct mail), media buying, public relations plans, and advertising for local, regional, and national markets. Ryan has also provided financial oversight for the marketing revenue and annual expense budget in conjunction with the company’s CFO, created sales forecasts, and developed expense projections. Tracking and quantifying results of publicity campaigns.

In addition to their marketing responsibilities, Lathan has also served as the primary media contact for the organization and managed the international media lists through media monitoring solution platform, Meltwater. Ryan has continued to oversee and implement all responsibilities of the Manager of Marketing and Communications position.

Ryan Lathan began their educational career at the Eastman School of Music, where they earned their MM Performance and Literature & Performer's Certificate in Voice. Ryan then went on to study Classical Voice and Opera at Texas Christian University, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) with a Psychology Minor.
