Brenda Serafim has a diverse work experience that spans several years. Brenda began their career as an intern in the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory at Universidade de São Paulo, where they worked from August 2013 to April 2016. Brenda then joined Syngenta as a Junior Research Chemist in October 2019 and stayed until August 2021. In this role, Brenda supported organic synthesis processes, conducted analytical analysis of reactions and products, and performed quality control of stored chemicals using LC-MS, GC-MS, and NMR. Brenda also operated robots for liquid transfer and automated weighing. Following their time at Syngenta, Brenda worked as a Laboratory Manager and Membrane Technician at UniSieve AG from November 2021 to November 2022. Currently, they are employed as an Operations Associate at CUTISS AG, starting in February 2023.

Brenda Serafim obtained their Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from USP - Universidade de São Paulo, where they studied from 2012 to 2017. In addition to their degree, they have certifications in "Safe Handling of Cryogenic Liquids and Pressurised Gas Cylinders" from ETH Zurich, Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSHE) obtained in March 2022, and "Erste Hilfe an der ETH mit integriertem BLS-AED-SRC Komplett Kurs (Generic Provider)" from Die Notfall Akademie Schweiz AG obtained in February 2022.
