Chris Meyer is a seasoned professional in project development with extensive experience in energy efficiency and environmental policy. Currently serving as a Senior Project Developer at East Point Energy since October 2022, Chris has also taken on the role of School Board Member for Charlottesville City Schools after being elected in November 2023. Previously, as Executive Director of the LOCAL ENERGY ALLIANCE PROGRAM (LEAP) from March 2019 to June 2022, Chris successfully restructured the organization to focus on low-income households while navigating the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. With a decade of experience at the Environmental Defense Fund, leading land use sector policy advocacy, Chris has contributed to significant environmental initiatives, including consulting on REDD+ policy for Indigenous leaders in Latin America. Earlier roles include managing operations for Planting Empowerment and serving as a Regional Leader for the Peace Corps in Panama. Chris holds a Master's degree in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a Bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of Portland.
