Steve started his career in the telecommunication industry as a hardware technician testing data/voice card voltage thresholds. In the years leading up to the proliferation of the internet, he made significant architecture and engineering contributions to some of the first circuitry which enabled the network of the world wide web. He has also architected many large virtual environments and networks for critical infrastructure and command & control-based networks operating in high security settings under NIST RMF.
His interests later pivoted to security and information assurance and he transitioned to General Dynamics Automated Information Systems where he honed his tradecraft as a penetration tester specializing in both defensive and offensive cyber operations. Steve met the CDT co-founders while at General Dynamics. His training, certifications and professional experience has transitioned him from a jack-of-all-trades into a master of one: hacking. Steve holds some of the most coveted hacking certifications in his field including: OSCE, OSCP, OSWP, and is a well-recognized security researcher, responsibly publishing multiple Zero Day Exploits.
While the CTO, Steve still rolls up his sleeves: he is CDT’s lead penetration tester, directs the company’s research and development efforts including generation of customized code for next-generation capabilities and contributes on CDT’s Direct Action Team providing acute services to those with immediate triage needs.
